PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) -- It remains unclear what caused an overnight fire at a Peoria Furniture Store.
Firefighters were called to The Store in the 2500 block of North Sheridan around 11:30 PM on a fire alarm.
The building is used for furniture sales.
Firefighters did find heavy smoke on the first floor when they got inside, and called for additional firefighters due to the size of the building.
"Additional crews did come," Battalion Chief Steve Rada said. "We ended up pulling two attack lines off machines, and had to use multiple forcible entry tools and fans to get rid of the smoke in the building. Crews did find a fire on the second floor in the rear of the building," Rada added.
Firefighters say there is significant damage to the first floor, while fire damage was contained to the back of the second floor.
Damage is estimated at $100,000.
A fire investigator was called to the scene, but the cause of the fire is unknown.
No injuries were reported.
