PERU (WEEK) - ISU graduate student Jelani Day was reported missing under unknown circumstances on Aug 25.
A few days after Day was reported missing his car was found in a wooded area south of the Illinois Valley YMCA.
The white 2010 Chrysler 300 contained clothing Day wore the day before he was reported missing.
Police said the search would continue.
"A lot of what we're doing is through digital evidence it's kind of behind the scenes," John Fermon of the Bloomington Police. "Our best bet in locating people and finding out where they've been the last few days is just looking at digital evidence."
On Saturday morning the body of an unidentified male was found on the south bank of the Illinois River by a search team tasked with finding Jelani Day.
Authorities said the identity of the body was unknown.
The body was found east of the Illinois Route 251 Bridge.
The LaSalle County coroner was still in the process of identifying the body, which could take up to a few weeks. Police asked people not to speculate on the investigation.
"Until we can positively ID and identify who the body is," said Fermon. "We're still working on our case. we're not going to the release or speculate any information until we have a 100 percent accuracy on who this person is. "
The Bloomington PD continued to search for Day and asked anyone with information on his disappearance to contact them.
