PEORIA (WEEK) - A Peoria grade school is closed and its students are returning to remote learning because of an outbreak of COVID-19.

St. Jude Catholic School on North Knoxville Avenue notified parents Monday after "increasing numbers of students" tested positive.

School started August 16, and kids from kindergarten through eighth grade will receive virtual instruction for two weeks.

School administrators hope to resume in-person learning September 13.

For now, all extra-curricular activities and sports are called off as well.
