MORTON (WEEK) - A five year plan becomes a reality in just five months, after one Groveland woman set a goal and quickly achieved it.
Becky Plfederer was working for a company when she had a revelation, thinking to herself, 'If I'm going to work this hard, why not put the effort toward my interior design dream?', so she would do just that.
By chance, Pflederer found an interior decorating franchise, bought it, and started working online in January 2021, but she still had the goal of a brick and mortar.
She came across an empty building, formally Binkley Jewelers. She took a leap of faith, decided to rent it, and Decorating Den Interiors was moved in by June 1.
"It's so exciting. To be able to get up everyday and do what you love is huge. Ya know, there's an old saying that if you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life, and I'm finding that to be true," Pflederer said.
When Pflederer was still in the process of finding a building, college student Mary Kate Ferlmann reached out, and insisted Pflederer take her on as an intern. Ferlmann says there was just something about Becky's energy that felt right.
"This has been such a blessing. This store, this studio is amazing. Working every single day is the best thing ever. We do something different every day. I'm so thankful that it wasn't a five year plan and it just happened so fast and I'm just happy to be here," Ferlmann said.
Decorating Den is open for business in downtown Morton at 105 S. Main St. It's open Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The store offers interior decorating and design services, including kitchen and bathroom remodel. They also offer furniture plus lighting fixtures, and work with local contractors to get it all done.
