PEORIA (WEEK) - A popular coffee shop in Peoria's Warehouse District is being sold.
Zion Coffee Bar owners Banu and Mike Hatfield announced they're selling the business at 803 SW Adams Street to previous Zion employee Savannah Hattan and her partner Jared Jensen.
"We're ready for the next chapter," Banu Hatfield told 25 News.
The Hatfields live in Morton, and she said they plan to remain in the community at least until her son finishes high school. She said she doesn't know yet about future business endeavors.
Zion Coffee was founded in December 2013, offering coffee obtained directly from small growers in developing countries.
"Zion’s profit sharing model has helped to advance the lives of farmers and their surrounding communities through investment in expansion projects, tools and education," the news release said.
“We are proud of the meaningful impact Zion has made globally and locally," Banu Hatfield said in a prepared statement.
"We are thankful for everyone who loved us, encouraged us, supported us through our journey. Our Zion community will always have a special place in our hearts," she added
Zion's future owners said they have more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, and in construction and maintenance.
“We are so excited to take this next step with a business that means so much to us. We love what Zion brings to our community and want to carry that legacy forward into the next chapter”, said Hattan.
The sale is expected to close by September 1.
