Leon Hendricks promoted to lead WEEK-TV’s news operations

EAST PEORIA, Illinois WEEK-TV Assistant News Director Leon Hendricks has been promoted to News Director.

The announcement was made today by WEEK Vice President and General Manager Jim McKernan. Hendricks will lead the WEEK-TV news operations including 25 News and Heart of Illinois ABC effective immediately.

In his new role, Hendricks will be responsible for all news gathering, editorial decisions and newscast presentation, as well as all online and digital news content.  

Hendricks is a Chicago native and has lived in Central Illinois for over 25 years.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Illinois State University where he was greatly involved with TV-10. During his two-decade tenure at WEEK, he has been a news photographer, promotion producer, newscast producer, assignment manager and most recently, assistant news director. 

He has been honored with multiple Illinois Broadcasters Association Silver Domes, Illinois Associated Press Awards, a News Emmy and Regional Edward R Murrow honors.
