PEORIA COUNTY (WEEK) - Peoria Police say a Marquette Heights man missing since early March was murdered, and they've arrested a man connected to the killing.

Peoria Police Public Information Officer Amy Dotson would not say if authorities located the body of 32-year old Gabriel Cook, but a news release says Peoria County Sheriff's Deputies did find a crime scene in Peoria on March 25. Evidence collected at the scene indicated a violent crime had been committed against Cook, a news release said.

Dotson would not say what evidence was found at the scene.

Tuesday, police said they found Allen Schimmelpfennig, 28, in the 11000 block of North Old Galena Road. Police said he was interviewed and arrested for first degree murder, concealment of a homicidal death, and possession of methamphetamine.

Police said they're still investigating the case. Authorities are asking anyone with information, or those who might have camera footage that could be important to the investigation to call Detective Scott Hulse at 309-494-8391. The CrimeStoppers organization is accepting anonymous tips at 309-673-9000.
