East Peoria, Ill. (WEEK) - Ducks are now on sale for the Center for Prevention of Abuse signature fundraiser, the 33rd Annual Duck Race. To celebrate ducks going on sale, they will have a limited-time offer to kick off for buy-one-get-one-free ducks.
Race day is August 28th and you can buy ducks now through that day, they cap the amount of purchased, or adopted ducks at 30,000. The CFPA is selling ducks online at duckracepeoria.com and at select sales sites. You can also ask the CFPA to mail you a form or call their main phone line.
“Year after year, the Duck Race raises crucial funds that directly support our free and confidential services for survivors of abuse in our community,” said Carol Merna, Chief Executive Officer of the Center for Prevention of Abuse. “We are grateful to our sponsors who help underwrite the cost of the event, all those who purchase a duck and enter for their chance to win, as well as our friends at the City of East Peoria who partner with us to carry out a safe and fun event.'
Each duck costs $5 or you can create a fundraising team not through race day when the 30,000 ducks race down a 1,000 foot water slide. The person whose duck makes it to the finish line first will win $10,000 cash, second prize is $5,000 cash, and third prize is $2,500 cash. Other prizes include local experience packages, electronics, gift cards, kitchen and grilling equipment, and more.
Race Day begins at 4 p.m. on August 28 with live music, food trucks, and enjoyment for the whole family. The race begins at 6 p.m.
CFPA’s Duck Race is the longest-running Duck Race in the country. Thanks to generous sponsors, 100% of the proceeds support the free and confidential programs and services offered at CFPA, including emergency safe shelter, counseling, therapy, Orders of Protection, medical and legal advocacy, and more, to help all women, men, and children live free from violence and abuse.
