Pair arrested on gun charges after ShotSpotter alert Saturday

PEORIA (WEEK) -- Two men have been arrested after a ShotSpotter alert around noon Saturday in the 2300 block of West Garden in Peoria indicated multiple rounds fired,

Peoria Police said Carl L. Wells Jr., 22, and Gerald L. Woods, 20, were both arrested for aggravated discharge of a firearm. Woods was additionally arrested for possession of a lookalike substance. In addition to aggravated discharge of a firearm, Wells was also arrested for possession of a stolen firearm, aggravated assault, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, no FOID and criminal damage to property.

Responding officers were flagged down regarding occupants of a vehicle shooting at two people.

Police pulled over the suspect vehicle near Lincoln and Laramie.

The two men were detained and a gun, later found to be reported stolen, was observed in plain view.

Police say no injuries were reported during the incident though a vehicle was struck by gunfire.
