PEORIA (WEEK) - Proctor Hospital's snacks and sodas oasis was deserted for a long time.
It's been closed since March of 2020.
But it opens again Tuesday.
And it has a new look, thanks to volunteer art students from Peoria Notre Dame High School.
A sister act earned some service time credit in the process, helping to hand draw the largest wall with various sweet shop items, like pizza slices and ice cream sundaes.
"It came pretty naturally. There was a lot of planning. And we did a lot of sketches to see which one would be best. It was pretty straightforward. The popcorn has given us a little bit of a struggle. But, other than that, it's been pretty good," said Ella Beharelle, a junior at PND, standing alongside her sister Emerson, a PND 9th grader.
The project coordinator at proctor hopes the new look will make people smile as they enter the door.
They serve lunch foods and frozen yogurt too, so smiles are very likely.
