Peoria IL (WEEK) - Students within Peoria Public Schools that are 16-years and older will now have an opportunity to get their COVID vaccines through the school clinic.
UnityPoint Health has teamed up with the Manual High School clinic to administer the Pfizer doses, the only vaccine brand approved for people as young as 16.
Information and consent forms are being sent to parents of eligible students.
"The thing that will be really good about having it here, is that the students will see each other receiving the vaccine and that will send a positive message to other students that will say, look, we're willing to get this vaccine come on down and get it," said Mariola Kabat, a Nurse Practioner with the Manual clinic.
Starting next week, the clinic is open for shots on Tuesday and Wednesdays from 930am to 2pm.
Manual will hold these clinics through June, so everyone is able to get their second dose.
