Livingston County authorities search for Odell bank robbery suspect

LIVINGSTON COUNTY (WEEK) - Livingston County authorities were searching for a bank robbery suspect who had been on parole for a previous robbery.

The latest holdup happened about noon Friday at the Bank of Pontiac branch in Odell, which is a small village in the northeast part of the county.

The sheriff's office said police are looking for John W. Beck, who's 54, and has a long criminal record according to the Illinois Department of Corrections website.

The website indicated Beck had been released on parole last August from the Sheridan Correctional Center after serving a portion of his 25-year sentence in a 2008 Champaign County armed robbery case.

Police did not say whether a weapon was used in Friday's bank robbery, or how much money was taken. Police said no one hurt.

Before identifying Beck as the suspect, police released a photo of the robber along with a picture of a vehicle, asking anyone with information to contact authorities.

Now, police are asking anyone who knows Beck's whereabouts to contact the Livingston County Sheriff's Office at 815-844-0911.
