Bradley University surprises some Peoria school kids with full-tuition scholarships

PEORIA (WEEK) - Eight students within Peoria Public Schools are getting a free ride to Bradley University next year through the newly announced Hometown Scholars program.

This scholarship program was announced in July 2020. The goal is to enhance the partnership between Bradley and PPS while helping local students achieve their academic goals near the river city.

Bradley President Stephen Standifird and KaBoom! surprised each student on Tuesday with the announcements, which included two students each from Manual, Quest, Peoria High and Richwoods High Schools.

Bradley worked closely with the schools and the recipients' parents to organize the award presentation.

The scholarship recipients include:

Diego Mcneeley Ortega - Manual - Art (Studio) - Drawing

Estela Quintero - Manual - Elementary Education with ESL endorsement

Shenise Bramley - Quest - Psychology

Jeremiah Mudd - Quest - Middle School Education - English/Language Arts with ESL endorsement

Tyson Heerman - Peoria High - Pre Health Science

David Bond I - Peoria High - Business Management and Leadership

Brianna Hill - Richwoods - Engineering Undecided

Daniela Gomez Flores - Richwoods - Journalism
