Peoria Riverfront Museum reopens for the first time this year

PEORIA (WEEK) - For the first time this year, the Peoria Riverfront Museum is opening their doors.

The museum has been closed since November and is reopening Saturday with never before seen exhibits.

Acclaimed Peoria based artist Preston Jackson, said he's excited for his piece to have a permanent home at the Riverfront, after spending more than 25 years on his project called "Bronzeville to Harlem: An American story."

“It's like an orchestra, if you don’t have an audience to carry your music it means nothing," said Jackson. "This was an opportunity for me to exhibit not only the work, but my beliefs."

The museum will have a total of three new exhibitions. Museum representatives said they were designed with education in mind, hoping to inspire the younger generations of the community.
