PEKIN (WEEK) -- The pandemic shut down many area golf courses last year. But this year, some courses, like Pekin Park District's Parkview, are taking advantage of the nice weather to get golfers back on the green a bit early.
"I know everyone was very excited when golf was going to begin, we just had to be patient," said Cory Proehl, Director of Golf for Pekin Park District.
Many golfers are excited to be back on the fairway. One frequent golfer, Ben Thomas says he tries to play golf on any day that ends in 'Y'.
"This is like free golf when you get to play in March," said Thomas.
Experienced or not, Proehl says Parkview and other Pekin Park District courses offer a little something for everyone.
"We have junior camps, we have adult golf clinics. We also have junior clinics, we have junior clinics, we have junior clubs as well that the juniors can use for their golf game."
Pekin Park District Golf courses have even seen an increase in women and kids playing golf.
Pekin Park District's Lick Creek course will open April 1st. In the meantime, Parkview is opened for you to enjoy.
