Public input sought as Peoria chooses next police chief

PEORIA POLICE HOMICIDE NUMBERS DOWN

PEORIA (HOI) - Peoria's city government wants residents to provide input before the city hires the next police chief.

The city and the national search firm GOV HR created a community survey with 11 questions about policing, leadership, and other factors. Plus, there's room for participants to provide more detail.

The city's former police chief, Loren Marion, retired January 22.

“We understand how important the role of policing is in our community.  We are looking for robust participation from across our city," City Manager Patrick Urich said in a prepared statement.

"The input that is provided will be vital to the search committee when they go forward with the interview process,” Urich also said.

The survey, accessed on this link, will be available until the end of the day on March 19.

The survey can also be found on the "employment" page on the city's website.

Residents who don't have computer access can use a public computer or complete a paper copy of the survey at information desks at the Peoria Public Library.

Library locations and library hours can be found on the library website or by calling 309-497-2000.
