UPDATE: Suspects in ‘smash and grab’ at Northwoods Mall are from Michigan

UPDATE (8:06 p.m.) - Three people arrested for 'smash and grab' at Northwoods Mall are all from Michigan. Peoria Police say Terrion G. Johnson (19), Jabreez L. Thompkins (21), and Christopher K. Smith (26) were arrested for Business Burglary.

Johnson was also arrested for various traffic offenses.

UPDATE (3:20 p.m.) - Peoria Police said they have three people in custody accused of a noon-time robbery at a Northwoods Mall jewelry store.

Police said they were called to the mall about 12:15 p.m. Friday after a robbery at Kay Jewelers.

Preliminary information indicated two males entered the mall and smashed glass cases with a sledgehammer, then got into a waiting vehicle and drove off.

Police said witnesses provided a vehicle description, and the direction of travel.

Police said the vehicle traveled eastbound on Interstate 74 before stopping near the Par-A-Dice Casino on Route 116 and Blackjack Boulevard.

Two of the suspects fled on foot into a wooded area, according to police, while a third suspect stayed in the vehicle. All three were taken into custody, police also said.

There were no injuries in the robbery, or during the police pursuit, authorities said.

Multiple police agencies assisted Peoria officers.

Peoria Police plan to release more information about the suspects later.

Peoria Police confirmed there were no injuries, and authorities have three suspects in custody.

Peoria Police, East Peoria Police and Illinois State Police were involved in searching for suspects.
