EAST PEORIA (WEEK) - After being missing for more than a week, an East Peoria pup was finally reunited with his family.
Owner Bridget Bayless said she was in tears when she heard her 15-month-old Pitbull Rocky was found, as she didn't think she would ever see him again with the brutal sub-zero temperatures.
Rocky was found roaming near a business in East Peoria, thanks to Tazewell County Animal Control.
Bayless said she's grateful for all the support from the community, from sharing posts and flyers, to actively looking for her pup.
"I cried and cried and thought he was going to freeze to death," said Bayless. "Then everybody said no somebody's got him, somebody's got him. I knew in my heart that he was out there and I was just praying that somebody would see our flyer or the posts on Facebook and bring him home."
Rocky returned home with frostbite and significant weight loss, but will visit his veterinarian Monday.
Bayless said she plans to make a donation to Tazewell County Animal Control for their help in bringing Rocky home.
