BLOOMINGTON (WEEK) - A Bob Evans employee was on her way into work Monday, when she saw a group of Robins freezing outside the restaurant.
Assistant General Manager, Lindsay Freschi said she was alarmed when she saw a few of the birds didn't survive the bitter temperatures.
To combat the cold, she created a special bird home out of cardboard boxes and even served them her specialty Robin food creation of fruit, worms and bird seed.
Freschi said she's always had a special place in her heart for animals and she couldn't stand by and watch the birds suffer.
"We tried our best to help them and they seem to be doing really well now," said Freschi. "We can see them fly and they'll come and go and use their little boxes. We put some paper towels in there so they can make a little nest or something to get kind of warmed up."
Freschi said the birds have become a fan favorite among customers and employees. She said they will continue to take care of the birds at their store on W. Market St. for as long as they need it.
