Kewanee man arrested on child pornography charges

KEWANEE (HOI) -- A Kewanee man has been arrested on several charges involving child pornography, as well as indecent solicitation of a child, according to authorities.

Jeremy Debord, 39, was arrested and charged on Tuesday, and is currently being held at the Henry County Jail on $100,000 bond, according to the Kewanee Police Department.

The investigation began on Dec. 21, 2020, when a complaint was given to the Department of Child and Family Services that was forwarded on to the KPD.

"During subsequent interviews and investigation, detectives developed probable cause to get a search warrant for Debord’s electronic data storage," according to the KPD.

Detectives then located several images of child pornography during the search, as well as evidence of Debord soliciting a minor, the KPD stated.

Debord was formally charged with two counts of possession of child pornography-photos, a Class 3 felony; one count of possession of child pornography-moving depictions, a Class 2 felony; and one count of indecent solicitation of a child, a Class 4 felony.

The Class 2 felony has a potential maximum sentence of three to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Debord has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Feb. 8 at the Henry County Courthouse.
