Early morning fire damages Pekin Apartment


PEKIN, Ill. (WEEK) -- Five people have been displaced due to an early morning apartment fire in Pekin.

It happened just before 5 AM in the 200 block of Cooper Street.

The Assistant Fire Chief tells us it is unclear how the fire started in the far back apartment, but residents were woken up, and alerted everyone else in the complex to get out.

Firefighters arrived to see flames coming from the roof, and going down the attic.

The majority of the damage according to the Pekin Fire Department, is to the apartment where the fire started.

The five people are displaced due to the power being cut to the entire building.

No one was injured.
