Friday night shooting victim identified as 31-year-old Jevon Gilliam

PEORIA (WEEK) - A 31-year old Peoria man has been identified as the deceased victim from a shootout late Friday. 31-year-old Jevon Gilliam and another victim both suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Gilliam was pronounced dead at a local hospital at 12:21 AM.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood released the identity of the victim Sunday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 11:30 Friday night at a Peoria gas station. Police responded to 3 separate shotspotter alerts that indicated 24 rounds were fired.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.

Police arrested 31-year-old Marvin Sanders was arrested Saturday in connection with the shooting. Sanders was the other shooting victim that suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was taken into custody upon his release from the hospital.

It is unclear if Sanders was involved in the killing of Gilliam. Police are still searching for more information.
