UPDATE: Peoria’s NOAA weather radio transmitter restored after outage
UPDATE: Just 30 minutes later, the transmitter is back on the air.
PEORIA (WEEK) -- The main NOAA weather radio transmitter for the Peoria area will be off-air after equipment damage.
The National Weather Service in Lincoln said it could be several days for the damage to be fixed.
Power surges, likely from the ice storm, is the cause, they said.
Alternate transmitter sites in the area are available that cover portions of the Peoria area.
