UPDATE: Boil order canceled for Village of Morton

UPDATE -- The Village of Morton has canceled the boil order.

According to a post on Facebook, all samples were cleared from any contamination by an EPA-certified lab.

MORTON (WEEK) -- The entire Village of Morton is under a boil order Saturday, after equipment failure after a loss of power at the water treatment plant.

The Village says the boil order will remain in effect until further notice and after sampling is deemed satisfactory.

Morton residents are advised to bring any water used for consumption or food preparation to a rapid boil for at least five minutes.

The Tazewell County Health Department also advises residents to use bottled water if possible and to not use water from any appliance or ice maker, even if the water is filtered.

The Village said on Facebook that they hope to have updated information Sunday morning.
