MORTON (WEEK) - For many families in Morton, a local church's generosity might be considered a blessing.

Elevate Church is paying off unpaid lunch balances at every school in the Morton School District. Last school year, the church paid remaining lunch balances for 141 students, which came to about $3,000.

Pastors Brian and Danielle Sanders said they wanted ways to bless community residents by taking a little pressure off for some parents.

"At the end of the day, it was just our church. We have so many great people in our church, they wanted to help out too, as well. And so just partnering, as Danielle said, with the community," said Lead Pastor Brian Sanders.

During the pandemic, the church also covered house and utility payments to help some other local residents.
