Peoria, Ill. (WEEK) -- Cases continue to rise in the Tri-County area averaging 366 cases a day.
We lost 10 people to the virus in the last week, five in the last 24 hours.
Since the tier three mitigations went into place, the health department said it's had to educate 20 businesses on the new rules.
Of those 20 places only two received a first notice.
Health leaders said this does not paint the picture for the entire region.
Over 200 places have been nominated for the health departments award for going above and beyond Covid-19 rules.
"To think that there are over 200 individuals that have recognized and brought forward the great work of restaurants in our great community. We plan to highlight those entities with a winner at the end of the year," said Monica Hendrickson with the Peoria City/County Health Department.
Regarding the upcoming holidays, the health department reminds people to keep it small.
There is no way to have a risk free holiday.
