ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia’s Republican governor and the state's top elections official have certified results showing Democrat Joe Biden won the presidential race over Republican President Donald Trump.
Georgia has 16 electoral votes.
The certification Friday brings the state one step closer to wrapping up an election that has been fraught with unproven accusations of fraud by Trump and his supporters.
Since the margin separating the candidates is less than 0.5%, President Trump can ask for a recount that would be done by scanners that read and tally the votes. Trump's campaign has two business days to do so.
