BLOOMINGTON (WEEK) -- Daddio's Night Club in Bloomington was fined $500 on Friday after video circulated on social media earlier this week showing packed rooms with little to no masks or social distancing.

Bloomington Mayor Tari Renner said other bars violated current mitigations because of confusion between the different authorities and bar owners. Those bars were given warnings during a special liquor commission meeting on Friday afternoon.

Renner wanted to make it clear that all establishments are expected to follow the Governor's current Tier 3 mitigations.

"The most important thing for us is to ensure compliance, not necessarily to be punitive, especially if the businesses get their act together and they have the clear communication that we're going to continue to enforce public safety rules, even if the health department doesn't," said Renner.

Bill Bentley owns Cadillac Jack's, one of the restaurants cited for violating COVID-19 mitigations. He said he was unaware he was in violation, adding there had been confusion between him and officials he had been speaking with. He said he plans to follow all guidance put forth by the state. However, he called for enforcement across the board.

"Now that we have clarity, we will not have any inside dining, but I'm hoping that with all the other places that are continuing to have inside dining, that they also levy the same response they want out of us from them," said Bentley.

The mayor said he is hopeful compliance will help restrictions go away sooner, but also said he is willing to put additional ordinances in place if infection rates get worse in Bloomington.
