Illinois reaches 9 straight days over 10,000 daily COVID-19 cases

(WEEK) -- The Illinois Department of Public reported 11,028 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the state to 562,985 total cases.

Saturday's report included 166 new deaths, but IDPH notes that due to a delay in data, 66 of those deaths were supposed to be included in Friday's data. These new deaths bring the state to 10,670 COVID-19 related deaths.

Currently, there are 5,415 individuals hospitalized for the virus. This marks a new record for the state. Of the people in hospitals, 1,018 are in intensive care, while 499 are on ventilators.

The state reported a record number of tests, with 114,370 conducted in the last 24 hours. The state's seven-day rolling positivity rate is 12.6%.
