Election Day coverage: What to expect and how to watch


(WEEK) – Election Day is here and 25 News has everything you need on races from the presidential decision to county board seats and officials. Here you can find links to our website, news app and social media pages.

You can watch 25 News at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. for live updates. 

Our political analyst for tonight’s coverage will be Dr. Semily Schnurr, an assistant professor of political science at Bradley University. 

We will be providing Facebook live updates throughout the night from our reporters in the field and from our team at the station. 

The big showdown will be the Presidential race between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden. The Associated Press has reported results will likely not be finalized Tuesday night and votes will still be counted in that race for days.

The graduated income tax amendment has been a hot issue throughout the state, with millions of dollars in campaigning being invested into both sides of the issue.

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin faces off against Republican challenger Mark Curran.

For the U.S. House of Representatives, Republican incumbent Rodney Davis is facing a strongly contested campaign against Democratic challenger Betsy Dirksen Londrigan.

Peoria native Darin LaHood is also looking to keep his seat in the 18th District in a race against Democrat challenger George Petrilli.

At the state level, several Illinois House of Representative seats are contested, including the 91st, 88th, 92nd, 105th. State Sen. Dave Koehler has been running an extensive campaign against Republican challenger Mary Burress.
