PEORIA (WEEK) - Families on Peoria's southside got time to both enjoy the outdoors and exercise their constitutional right to vote.
It was all a part of the community fall festival hosted by Peoria County Auditor Jessica Thomas.
There was free food, a smore station, an arts and crafts table, and a bonfire.
For those of voting age there was a free shuttle to Peoria's early voting site.
Thomas said polling place shuttles have become essential for the neighborhood.
"We're in an area where some people may not have transportation, adequate transportation to get to the polls, so we have Peoria All Access providing free transportation to the weekend early voting at the Peoria County Election Commission." said Thomas
Thomas said she hopes to make this fall festival an annual event that can bring people together as well as ensure people have the ability to vote.
