House to be demolished after morning house fire in Peoria

PEORIA (WEEK) -- No one was found inside a home during a fire that occurred at 6 a.m. in the 1500 block of Widenham in Peoria.

Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and fire conditions in a home with a majority of that fire initially on the porch and the front room extending to the attic region, according to a press release from the fire department.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in around 45 minutes.

A cause is currently being investigated.

A city building inspector responded to the scene and determined the structure unsafe and to be demolished Friday.

Damage was estimated to be at $50,000.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
