Dunlap (WEEK) - Folks from across the area came out to Dunlap on Sunday to celebrate the beginning of fall a little early with beer, brats, pretzels, and other traditional German grub.
The Peoria German American Society hosted the German Herbst Feiertag picnic at Hickory Grove Park.
The afternoon featured a number of live bands and plenty of dancing.
The members of the German American Society said they were excited to be able to gather outdoors together.
Normally in the fall there is the annual Oktoberfest down by the Riverfront but being able to have a smaller gathering like this made it feel special.
"It's really important to celebrate our history and remember where we came from." said Copernicus Warren, one of the days attendees
"Todays events all about good food, good drinks, comradery and getting a chance to sit down, relax and have a good time with your best friends." said Bryan Brown, President of the local group.
