Morton (WEEK) - The winners of the annual Precious Pumpkin Baby contest help to cap the final weekend of the Morton Pumpkin Festival.
Carolynne Buffington won on the girl's side.
Camden Spickelmier on the boy's side.
All entrants are under 24 months.
The top 3 kids of each gender get a cash prize.
"We Care, Inc" of Morton has held this popularity contest with a purpose for 21 years, in conjunction with the Morton Pumpkin Festival, now wrapping up year 54.
Each vote for a child costs a penny.
This year, more than $4,000 was raised. But, the same event brought in $11,566 dollars last year. Only half the number of babies were entered in 2020 versus 2019, a change organizers attribute to the corona virus. We Care offers transportation to the disabled and elderly, they bring Meals on Wheels and run a food pantry in the Morton area. WeCareofMorton.com
