Peoria Public Schools to have K-1 students return to classroom

PEORIA (WEEK) -- Starting Oct. 5, students in kindergarten and first grade at Peoria Public Schools will be returning to the classroom for in-person instruction.

According to the announcement by the school district, self-contained special education students will return starting Oct. 12.

The K-1 students will return on an A/B schedule.

"Our school staff will be notifying the parents of students in these grade levels beginning tomorrow with more information. Parents that want their student to remain in Distance Learning will be able to make that choice," the announcement read."

"Peoria Public Schools will continue to monitor local COVID-19 metrics to assess whether in-person instruction can be expanded to more grade levels. We will implement phasing in the K-1 students to our buildings with the utmost caution to ensure the safety of the district's students, families and staff."
