PEORIA (WEEK) - A Peoria County jury will continue deliberations Thursday whether Doyle Nelson is guilty of first-degree murder.

Nelson, 19. is accused of taking part in killing Zarious Fair, 16, of Peoria who was shot to death last year in the city's East Bluff neighborhood.

The closing arguments in Nelson's trial came down to the prosecution's contention that Fair was shot during a robbery attempt, and defense claims the shooting centered around a personal dispute between the victim and 14-year old Zaveon Marks, who was convicted earlier of firing the fatal shots.

Prosecutors argued Nelson was involved in a robbery gone bad, and that he too is responsible for Fair's death.

The jury deliberated for a half-hour Wednesday, then went home for the night.

Deliberations are scheduled to resume Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Peoria County Courthouse.
