KNOX COUNTY (WEEK) -- All of I-74 in both directions over French Creek in Knox County will be subject to periodic closures beginning at 10 p.m. on Monday, September 21.
French Creek is about five miles west of Brimfield.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, the closures are necessary for crews to place new bridge beams.
The work is expected to be complete by 6 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22.
Dynamic message signs will be in place to remind motorists about the closures and Illinois State Police will be present before the closures begin.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Use of alternate routes should be considered.
Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
