EAST PEORIA (WEEK) -- Despite flooding and COVID-19 the Fondulac Park District says there was no shortage of boating and camping this Labor Day weekend.
Park district director, Michael Johnson says they lost several thousand dollars from flooding in the spring but snowbirds stayed in the summer months; so when April hit they were almost fully booked until the end of the season.
Although it's booked for Labor Day weekend, Johnson says it will not be a monkey making year for them.
"It won't be a profitable one but we know we'll break even for sure, and with a park district or any municipality that's our goal we don't want to cost the taxpayers anything; we want to at least break even. We will with the campground, with some other facilities we're still struggling," says Michael Johnson.
Johnson also says it's been a quiet Labor Day weekend, there haven't been any service calls for anyone getting hurt.
