Peoria Heights Police, State crime scene investigators on scene of shooting incident

UPDATE 7:30 P.M. -- Peoria Police Chief Dustin Sutton says they expect to make an arrest soon. Other police sources say there was a lot of evidence to assist in identifying possible suspects.

Neighbors we spoke with say they were shocked like this something happened on their block. One woman who lives only a few doors down thought she heard fireworks but realized something was wrong when people started running and yelling.


UPDATE 1:36 P.M. -- One man has non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in the lower extremities in Peoria Heights.

Peoria Heights Police responded to the 500 block of East Prospect Lane for a report of a gunshot victim at around 10:46 a.m. Thursday.

Officers and AMT rendered first aid to the man before transporting him to the emergency room at OSF.

No suspect information is being released at this time.

Neighbors told us heard what they what were fireworks but then heard commotion.

Police have not released any details so far.
