BLOOMINGTON (WEEK) -- Connect Transfer is set to receive an $8 million grant to build a new transfer center in downtown Bloomington.

Announced by U.S. Reps. Rodney Davis and Darin LaHood, the grant will help build a new transfer center to replace the current on-street bus transfer area.

According to a joint release, the new center will serve 10 bus routes and 1,800 daily boardings, giving riders protection from the weather and improved safety, access, amenities and transit service.

Rep. LaHood also announced a $10 million grant for the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District.
