(WEEK) -- The U.S. Department of Education is awarding some colleges and universities in the 18th Congressional District $1,859,344 to support low-income students through the Student Support Services Program.
According to a release from Congressman Darin LaHood, Illinois State University is set to receive $309,457, Illinois Central College is set to receive $376,031 and Heartland Community College is set to receive $275,104.
“Education is critical to the success of our communities across central and west-central Illinois,” said Rep. LaHood. “I am pleased to announce this funding for colleges in the 18th District that will provide important resources to disadvantaged low-income and first-generation college students working hard to get a quality education."
