Three dead after Saturday morning crash in Woodford County involving ambulance

WOODFORD COUNTY (WEEK) -- A two-vehicle crash in Woodford County involving an ambulance early Saturday morning has left three people dead.

The incident happened at the area of Ill. Route 116 and County Road 2400 East at about 1:57 a.m, according to the Illinois State Police.

A silver Chevrolet was traveling southbound on CR 2400 East when it drove into the path of a red ambulance. The ambulance then hit the driver's side of the Chevrolet, according to the ISP.

A 20-year-old woman in the Chevrolet died in the crash, as well as a 19-year-old man and an unidentified man in the ambulance, the ISP reported.

Three others in the crash were transported to an area hospital with injuries, one had serious injuries.

The roadway was closed for about six hours during the investigation.
