(PEORIA) WEEK - Virtual learning for Peoria Public Schools is full and several district families say they're frustrated and confused on how that happened.
The district's spokesperson Thomas Bruch explained to 25 News that parents had a deadline of July 24th to choose the 'all virtual' registration option for their kids. That deadline was established as a baseline of teachers needed to assist with the virtual option.
That deadline was then extended two days afterward in hopes of giving more families time to complete the process.
There are still slots available to new & incoming students for apply in-person, but for returning families hoping for complete remote learning choice, they'll be added to a waiting list until the district has the resources to open up another round of sign ups.
Bruch says staff have been fielding a lot of calls about this and the district is working with families to do everything they can to offer the option to more people.
