METAMORA, IL (WEEK) - The return to school plan for Metamora Township High School will include a full week in the classroom, however, the school day only goes to 12:34pm. Start time is 8am Monday through Friday.
According to the preliminary plan released to families, each half-day will include four classes that are 64 minutes long. Classes will alternate each day, meaning classes one through four are together, then the next day will be classes five through eight.
If families are not comfortable with their student coming into the building at all, there is an online program they can use instead, but it's on a pass-fail basis and requires a semester commitment.
"We'll be on a block schedule to reduce the number of passing periods our students have, the amount of exposure as they move around the building and kind of eliminating the lunches," said Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Jared Hart.
Masks will be required for everyone in the building. If students cannot wear a mask for a medical reason, they are expected to wear a face shield.
