PEORIA (WEEK) - Wednesday was National Chicken Wing Day, which is also when organizers of the Peoria's WingFest told local wing enthusiasts they'll have to wait until next year for the event.

WingFest was originally postponed until October 4 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but planners have now decided to hold the 5th annual festival on June 6 of next year.

"The health and well-being of our listeners, wing enthusiasts, and EP!C supporters is the utmost importance to us," organizers said on WingFest's website.

EP!C is a group that serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. EP!C receives a portion of WingFest proceeds.

WingFest features local kitchens from across the area compete for first place honors for hottest, traditional, exotic, barbecue, and "best in show" wing categories.
