BLOOMINGTON (WEEK) – The Miller Park Zoo is now open to the public.
Thousands have already visited despite the heat, Zoo Director Jay Tetzloff said. The zoo opened to the members last week, and opened to everyone Thursday.
The zoo has a new limited capacity and reservations are required, but so far nobody has been turned away.
Tetzloff said the animals missed seeing new faces each day.
"We went about three months with no one here except for staff, so everyone they were seeing was a zookeeper and now we're back to normal where people can be seen, the animals are catching people's attention and vice versa. It's fun to see that - it's why we're here," said Tetzloff.
The zoo announced they will be open a half an hour earlier each day from 9 AM to 4:30 PM. For more information on Miller Park Zoo click here.
