Peoria Police make arrest in May hit-and-run death

PEORIA (WEEK) -- A suspect in a hit-and-run May 25 was arrested Monday, June 29 in the 1100 block of North Underhill.

Damon Burns, 31, was arrested without incident for leaving the scene of an accident injury/death and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, according to a release from the Peoria Police Department.

During the course of the investigation, officers determined the suspect vehicle was a silver Chevrolet Trailblazer based on evidence collected at the scene.

On May 28, a patrol officer observed a silver Trailblazer parked in an alley off North Underhill -- having damage consistent with the evidence collected from the hit-and-run.
