PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) -- Peoria Police are investigating the city's sixth homicide of the year.
Police spokeswoman Amy Dotson says it happened around 11:30 PM Monday night in the 300 block of North Saratoga on the city's south side.
Once officers arrived, they found an adult man in the backyard of a home with an apparent gunshot wound.
He died at the scene.
Dotson says The victim's identity, along with further information regarding injuries will be released by the Peoria County Coroner pending the conclusion of the autopsy.
There is no word on any suspects or arrests.
