PEORIA (WEEK) -- Minor League Baseball will not play in Peoria for the 2020 season, as the league announces its cancellation.
Peoria Chief's General Manager Jason Mott said while the cancellation is disappointing, "the safety of our fans an staff are our top priority."
The Chiefs had been slated to begin the season on April 13 at Dozer Park.
"COVID-19 has created unprecedented circumstances across the world, but we will continue to push towards the future and look forward to welcoming guests back in 2021," he said.
A release from the Chiefs says information regarding season tickets and groups purchased for the 2020 season will be communicated via Chiefs’ staff via phone and email.
