EAST PEORIA (WEEK) -- East Peoria Police have closed the case regarding the attack on a 72-year-old woman near Tall Oaks Village on June 22.
This comes after a review of surveillance video from area businesses, a review of the victim's cell phone and after speaking with residents in the complex.
A release from the East Peoria Police Department says cell phone records confirmed the victim attempted to contact family members for help while seated at the intersection of the complex driveway and Washington Road.
She then attempted to return to her apartment and can be seen "having some difficulty" in returning.
The release says it is unknown whether the difficulty was heat or medical related.
The victim was assisted by two subjects who reside in the complex, the release said, which was confirmed by another resident and the victim herself.
The East Peoria Police Department have relayed their findings to the victim's family.
